Mallaig and Skye

Mallaig Harbour - This is the largest fishing port on the west coast of Scotland, only 12 miles from the cottages and a working port full of fishing boats of every shape and size. The tightly knit community of fisher folk, who dedicate their lives to harvesting the bounty from the sea, also provide the crew for the town's famous Lifeboat. Mallaig is renowned for the plentiful landings of prime fish, much of which finds its way to European tables, as well as its superlative kippers.

Portree Harbour - Take the "Road to the Isles" the A830.to Mallaig and thence by Caledonian MacBrayne roll-on/roll-off ferry to Armadale on Syke.

Allow a whole day to circumnavigate this beautiful island. Look with awe upon the knife-edged and jagged peaks of the Cuillins and do not miss the colour-washed houses grouped so nicely at Portree harbour-side.
